Hello everyone! I am throwing myself into a tizzy prepping for my upcoming trip, and am hoping someone might be able to give some advice and feedback.
I have a trip planned at the end of June with a few friends; because of other trips later this year, it made the most sense for me to get an Annual Pass (first time in over a decade!) while my friends have regular tickets. Because of this, I'm subject to the park reservation system while my friends are not. We are planning 2 parks per day over 2 days (marathon, but we're ready for it!)
This was all thrown for a loop with Tiana's opening date announcement, as we planned for our first day to be AK/MK on 6/29. (We are staying at AKL, so we really hoped to keep things as they are in terms of park order.) We initially planned that we would make a Genie+ reservation for Tiana at 7am and play the slots as needed until we got a return time for sometime when we intend to be in MK (we don't think we'll make the 1pm VQ drop as AK is a priority) and just accept that we won't be able to make any LLs in AK until 2hrs after park open, but the fact that I have an Annual Pass is making things much more complicated than we originally thought.
If we hope to score a Tiana LL for say, 3pm, does that mean I have to have a park reservation for MK so that I will be able to do so at 7am? If we successfully get a Tiana LL for later that afternoon, can I change my park reservation right after to AK so that we can actually go to AK that morning, without losing my Tiana LL? And then there's the fact that the 29th is a Saturday - I don't THINK we'll encounter the whole AP park hopping into MK on the weekends caveat, but to be honest, I have a hard time understanding it. Our plans were picture perfect until this announcement, and I just don't know what to do! I know Disney's decision to open Tiana on a VQ/LL system (rather than ILL) is a first, so I know knowledge is scarce when it comes to this ride, but as a novice AP holder I have no idea how to navigate this change in plans. I appreciate the help!
Hello everyone! I just wanted to update that unfortunately, I won’t be able to test this out this weekend, as we’ve had to postpone our trip a few weeks thanks to a poorly timed case of Covid. Looking forward to testing this out later in July (and maybe seeing what others are able to do after official opening!)
Hi Jennifer! As others have pointed out, it does not matter where your reservation is, you can book Tiana’s as your first Lightning Lane right at 7am and that is what I would recommend. Keep in mind, that attraction has been going down a LOT during previews and it may be similar during your visit. I would recommend aiming for as early a return time as you are comfortable taking if riding it is important to you. That will give you a better chance of actually getting on. Good luck!🍀
Thank you everyone for the feedback! As a guinea pig, I'll be sure to report back how things go on the 29th (provided the ride stays operational!)
I watched a live stream yesterday going on Tiana, it looks great! Anybody know how wet you get on it? Might be something to bare in mind when you're choosing your time to go on it.
I'm kind of pleased they aren't putting Tiana on an ILL, it's not a brand new ride as such, more a rebranding of an existing one.
I can definitely see the LL booking being as competitive as Slinky\Remy, if not worse.
It sounds like you will be one of our first people to try out Tiana’s on G+.
If it is anything like slinky or Remy were it will be competitive for spots.
I don’t think being a AP will put any problems in your plans - you just have to make a reservation for your first park and then you can do any genie things you want.
Good luck and please report back to all of us on how it worked!!
Hi Jennifer! First off, You shouldn’t have to worry about scheduling G+ with AP park reservations. As far as Disney is concerned, if you make a reservation for AK you could tap into the park, walk right out and head to MK if you want. They just want to know how many AP holders they can expect on any given day since they aren’t date based tickets. As long as you have a reservation to any park, you are eligible to book LLs at any other park for any time of day. My only concern with your plan is getting a LL for the afternoon. As you said, knowledge is scarce lol. But personally, I’m afraid those G+ LLs will go FAST at 7 am. Unfortunately you’re going the second day it’s open to the public and we are just going to have to wait and see what happens. Sounds like you’ll be our guinea pig and I hope you let us know what happens!
The fact that they’re not doing ILLs really messes with my plans too. I’m going to a Halloween party so I just have to wait and see what they will do for the ride. It would have been so nice to be able to purchase one for sometime between 4 and 7 and not have to worry! 😂
