Hi there,
We are planning to visit WDW from the UK in August and we will be staying onsite for our trip! We are obviously quite disappointed that we wont get access to the pre-booking perk for the new lightning lane system that US-based guests will have - but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to work around this?
I know that a VPN unfortunately wont work as you can only book lightning lanes on the app, and VPN only works for browsers. We would need to somehow change the internal GPS of our phone, which is very difficult to do.
Does anyone have any ideas or tips? I would also love to see a video from EarScouts on this topic!
Thanks :)
@Madeleine M I was speaking to a friend from the UK who is going next week. If you block the location permissions that the Disney app requires you can then get past the screen where it says "US & Canada" only. I tried this on my phone (I'm also in the UK) and it worked, didn't even need a VPN!
I don't have a valid ticket, so can't go much further but it looked like it would have allowed me to purchase it.
Hi! Try changing your Country of Residence to the US under Profile > Account Settings on the app. Then, turn off the location service for Disney App on your mobile. I have not tried it yet, but a Brazilian youtuber found this out and tested. She said it worked!
I'm guessing you're probably going for 2 weeks. Most US visitors only go for 1 week, so you should still be able to take advantage for week 2.
You can get VPNs for mobile by the way, but I've no idea how effective they are using with the Disney app.
I should also add, that person in the US should probably be an Annual Passholder and they would have to pay for LLs as well. Maybe this isn’t a good work around 😢
Hi Madeleine! Unfortuneately I’ve only heard one possible way around this, but it’s not going to work for everyone lol. If you know someone in the US who you can add to your reservation, they should be able to make LL reservations for the entire group at the 7 day mark. Doesn’t matter if they actually take the trip with you. Of course we still don’t know if that would work, but in theory it should! Unfortunately you need an extra space on your reservation and a friend in the states you can trust 😬. Hopefully more workarounds will be found and/or Disney will make it work. Regardless, I’m sure you will have an amazing holiday! Keep us informed!
