Heigh-ho, everybody! We are less than a week away from the rollout of the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass service that is replacing Disney Genie Plus and we wanted to share with you a quick overview of the latest info we have gotten from Cast Members and travel professionals. You can find the full video of our latest Live Q&A Session over on our Patreon community.
If you don't yet know the basics of this new system, we'd recommend checking out this video on our YouTube channel.
Most Cast Members have said there will be no pre-booking before 7:00 AM on July 24. One Cast Member said they heard that guests who are in a stay that begins before July 24 would have a small early window to pre-book, but all other Cast Members we have spoken to said this was incorrect.
Pre-booked attractions must all be in the same park, but it does not need to be the park where you will start your day. If you have a ticket that requires park pass reservations (like an Annual Pass), you do not need to pre-book in the park where your park pass is – it can be for another park as long as you are able to park hop.
While you are limited to one Tier One and two Tier Two attractions that are all in the same park when pre-booking, these limitations are removed once you physically tap in at your first Lightning Lane of the day. You cannot simply cancel it, modify it or let it expire – you must physically enter the park and tap in at the attraction to unlock the park and tier limitations.
Once you have "unlocked" by tapping in, you are free to modify your existing Lightning Lanes to other attractions and you are no longer limited by tier or park. Even tapping in at one of your Tier Two attractions will work to "unlock" your ability to book.
You will be able to have three Multi Pass Lightning Lanes at all times and the only way you may book another is to use one of these Lightning Lanes or cancel/modify it. There is no "2-hour rule."
One Cast Member said that pre-booked Lightning Lanes may not have overlapping return windows, but that on the day of your visit, you will be free to overlap times. Other Cast Members have said they don't think there will be restrictions on overlapping times at all (even for pre-booking).
Multiple Cast Members have described the booking and modifying process for Multi Pass Lightning Lanes as being like the current Individual Attraction Lightning Lane system. You will see ALL available times and will be free to select the time that works best for your plans (assuming you tap in quick enough to grab it).
Even though it won't be like Genie where you refresh for the best available time, it does seem that refreshing and "playing the slots" will still be a big part of the process – especially when looking for harder-to-book attractions. These times will be volatile like with Genie Plus. The only difference is that now, when there are multiple times available, you will be able to choose which one you want. Just be quick. 🐇😂
We will be trying the new system on July 24 and will try to get a video up with a step-by-step, screen-by-screen process of how the system works as quickly as possible. I hope these early details will be helpful for those of you who will also be trying out the new system on July 24. Wish us all luck - and keep thinking happy thoughts, everybody!
Just to be clear, you purchase the LL pass for the park you plan on starting in. Once you tap into your first ride you can use that same pass to reserve something in another park if you are planning to park hop? If this is true, that could be cheaper than the old multi pass if you plan on starting in the AK then hop to the MK correct?
