Hello!! I feel like I’ve been working a part time job in preparation for our trip! It’s been more than 20 years since my last visit and my family has never been! I appreciate all the videos, they are incredibly helpful as is this community!
We land around 10:40ish and staying at Art of Animation. Should we drop our bags, hit the pool and then plan on going to Magic Kingdom in the afternoon? And should we do Genie+ that morning in order to try to line up rides for later in the day?
I appreciate any guidance you might have!
We wound up going for it and it was a great choice for us because since we didn't have park hopper we had 1.5 days at Magic Kingdom which was really lovely!
Hi Keri! I think the big question here is whether you want to use a day of your park tickets for a short time in MK where your family may be too exhausted to go into the night. Do you have an Annual Pass or one of those tickets where you have more days than you need (as is often the case with Canada and UK packages)? If so, I'd say do it since you are not losing anything if everyone decides they are too tired to stick around after Happily Ever After. If park days are more precious, I'd vote to enjoy your hotel – there is a lot to explore at Art of Animation. If you are feeling like you want to get out of the hotel, hit Disney Springs or one of the mini golf courses at WDW. That way you can have a fun-filled first day without using up a park ticket that you might get more out of later in your trip. You'll have a great time either way!
I think ending night one with magic kingdom fireworks is about the most magical way I can think of to start a holiday.
My only concern is who is in your party- I know when my kids were of a certain age day 1 needed to be pool and hotel time. They were so excited about hotel they couldn’t really enjoy the parks until they had gotten all of that out of their system.
I am sure you will have a great trip!
Hi Keri! Tough question haha. No matter how long your travel morning is, you will be so energized when you finally arrive! Maybe check with the kids and see if they're more excited about MK? Or about the pool? I'm sure you'll have a great time either way!
