Hello! I have only been to WDW twice. We have only watched the fireworks from behind the castle in fantasyland, because I am intimidated/anxious about the idea of being packed together with so many people. However, my partner would really like to see the projections, so I am thinking of mustering the courage and attempting it on our next trip. I have looked online for advice and learned about some good spots to view the projections and fireworks. But what I’m not so sure about is the timing. and logistics.. Specifically, I am aware that cast members will put down tape to create walkways in different areas. I don’t want to stake out a spot only to have to move because I am in a walkway. Are there cast members around early on letting you know if your spot is legal? I have also heard about people barging in and pushing their way in front of people who had staked out spots earlier, which sounds stressful and frustrating. At the same time, I really can’t afford to do the dessert parties because we are a family of five and don’t have $500 to spend on a fireworks show. 😉 Any advice or tips about the logistics of this would be useful to me.

Hello! My best advice would be to stake out a spot along the fenced-off bushes/landscaping areas near the statue of Walt & Mickey (aka the Partners Statue). This way, no one can move in front of you because there’s nowhere to go that isn’t fenced off and you’ll also feel less claustrophobic. While some of these are a little bit close, you still have a fantastic central view of the castle. I’d recommend setting up camp an hour and a half or so before fireworks start (2 hours on a really busy day) because those spots tend to fill up fast. If you line up along a taped off walkway, you will actually end up having people fill in the space in front of you because just before showtime, the Cast Members actually fill in most of the walkways with people to maximize capacity.
