I'm treating my mother to another visit to Disney World this May, and I'd like her to experience some of the more technically advanced rides. Problem is, she's 79 and generally terrified of theme park rides!!
We did all the classic gentle rides last year in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, but she commented "this all feels a bit old fashioned"!! I told her that's only because she's too scared to go on the bigger rides!
So I'm thinking this year I'll push her to go on some more "extreme rides" so she sees the newer side of Disney. Here are my thoughts of what may be ok - Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog, Test Track, Dinosaur.
The main one I'd love to get her on is Rise....that should be ok for a 79 year old? She's physically in decent shape, but does get scared pretty easily.
Any thoughts on whether Rise or the others are too extreme for a senior? Thanks :-)
I would add that Dinosaur is my absolute favorite ride!!!
Thanks for your reply guys! Yes, I think I need to be a bit careful!
Rob, yes, Mum did Remy last year and really loved it! It was her favourite ride at Disney :-) I would love her to do Flight of Passage - didn’t think of that! She did love Soarin, which I guess is a tiny bit similar!
Craig, thanks for the tip. Yeah, on thinking about it, Test Track might be a bit too much, especially as it’s jerky!
I’ll let you know how we get on - the trip’s in May! Thanks again :-)
Hi Andy! I apologize for the delay in this getting posted. It got trapped by our spam filter for some strange reason. I concur with Craig that Dinosaur and Test Track may be too much. Remy is pretty new-fangled - did you do that one last time? I think Flight of Passage may be a good option, as well. It is very high tech and thrilling without a lot of hurky-jerky movements.
I would avoid Dinosaur for sure and maybe Test Track. My main worry would be the jerkiness of the ride as we become more susceptible to strokes and such as we get older. Even though us seniors appear to be in excellent heath, there are underlying issues that may be exacerbated by sudden movements. I’m 60, but I’m not about to hit Mission Space orange ever again! I’m sure you all will have a great time regardless!!
